Reward/Gallery System
This is a feature many patrons requested and I'm happy to announce that we'll be including a reward/system gallery in this update. There is a total of 69 new pictures to unlock. None of them are from the game. They are from an "alternative reality" shall we say, and most of them are really hot!
How does it work? Simple, you'll have to do certain things in the game in order to unlock the pictures. Some are easy to unlock, some are really hard.
Examples:
The one you are seeing on the image above can be unlocked if you tell D that the sexy secretary outfit is "Inappropriate" for her, when she visits you at the office. Other images can be unlocked by reaching certain FP and L9 at the end of each day. I'll be listing every reward and how to unlock them on the Walkthrough (another huge advantage of being a $15+ a month tier member!)
How do you know you have unlocked a new image? A message will pop up in the game telling you that a new image can be seen on the gallery:
A New And Improved D Menu:
I've drastically changed the layout of the menu that allows you to change D and F's names, and I've also added a few more things requested by you.
Now you'll be able to see the benefits of your current corruption level, the infamous hidden points and you'll also be able to change your relationship with Elena and Georgina in the middle of the game. However, this could lead to potential bugs in the game so use it at your own risk!
Your decisions will be saved automatically
One of my main concerns for the ending of this chapter was figuring out a way to transfer the decisions you made on this chapter to the next one. I'm happy to say that I found a solution that will allow you to move onto the next chapter without doing anything weird or complicated and it's already been implemented!
All you have to do is reach the end credits of this chapter and see the above image. That's it! All your decisions will automatically be saved by the game and Chapter 2 will pick them up. You'll be able to continue with the story like normal when we release the first update for Chapter 2.
Your Old saves will work. to a certain extent.
I have tested my old saves with the current version and they seem to work somewhat fine. I think you'll be able to move to the next chapter using your old saves but some new added decisions will be chosen automatically for you.
For example, there's are a number of new variables created on previous days that won't exist in your old saves. The game will create them for you but you might not understand some of F's decisions when you reach Chapter 2. That's why I recommend you start the game over.
The new reward system, on the other hand, won't work with old saves. If you want to unlock the new images, you'll have to start the game over.
This will be our last update for Chapter 1. The two other job routes won't be happening anytime soon ☹
I'm really sad that I have to give you this news. I started working on the two extra job routes right after v.13 was published. Hearsz had already written most of the scripts and I spent the last days of September working on the first few scenes.
I thought it would be quick and easy, but it wasn't. I didn't take into consideration all the other things that would need to change for the game to stay coherent. Scenes that had nothing to do with the job routes but that would seem unlogical, for example if F was a police officer he would have never been knocked down by Lucas at the restaurant. This simple event would have changed the entire game. The hospital event would have never happened and Maria would have never given a week off, etc. It would have been like creating a whole new game.
In other words, I realized that in order to keep everything coherent in the game, I would have to create dozens of new scenes, hundreds of new renders, animations, new variables for each job, checking that those variables didn't mess up the current Executive job, etc.
Doing this would have meant spending 2 to 3 more months on this chapter. To be honest, I felt overwhelmed just by thinking of all of that. I know that you would have been understanding of the situation I was in, and would have waited until I had completed these jobs
But I also know that most of you (including myself) want to continue with the story as soon as possible, so I started thinking that it might just not be worth the time. Besides, there are a number of other reasons I made this decision as well.
I'm sorry to say this, but the game has become too big and too complex to add two more routes without spending an awful lot of time on fixing and making sure that each scene leads to the correct one, that each character behaves on each route differently, etc. I spent most of this update fixing bugs and plot holes and believe you me, I hated it!
Plus, adding two more routes would mean also adding an extra GB or two to the current Chapter which is something unthinkable at this point. The current file size of Chapter 1 is around 3.5 GB. With the two other job routes the game would have reached the 5GB mark!
It might have sounded like a good idea when the game was really small but now with the amount of scenes that would need to be adapted for each job, it could become a nightmare from a coding point of view.
I'm so sorry for those who wanted to see D dressed up like a nurse or a police officer in this update, but that won't happen anytime soon. Well, that's not entirely true, because I have added a few images related to the two other job routes in the gallery
Also, if F becomes a photographer in the next chapter, we could easily add a cosplay scene where D would dress up like a nurse or policewoman. So the scenes I had already created for these jobs won't be a total waste!
No patched version for this update
Many images and lines of code were changed from all previous days which made it impossible for me to release a patch this time. I'm sorry but you will have to download the entire chapter one last time.
I've tested the update extensively and some of my team members beta tested it as well, but since I made some major changes to the code, I'm sure you're still going to find one or two bugs. So please play the update and let me know what you find. I'll be releasing a patch next month if needed.
However, not everything is bad news.
We're moving onto Chapter 2 on the next update!!
Since we've already fixed most of the major bugs that the game had, I think we are ready to move onto Chapter 2. I won't be publishing any major update for this chapter anymore. I'm sure many of you will find some bugs and grammar errors and like I said, I might release a patch next month but that will be it for this chapter in terms of content. All our energy is now completely focused on the start of Chapter 2.
Hearsz has already written quite a few scripts already and my plan was to start the coding and rendering part this week, but well the m..assive bans happened I had to waste my week doing things that I don't usually need to do instead, of doing what I love, which is creating content for you guys
